+ Artistic Director

Founding Artistic Director, The New York Song & Dance Company
NYSDC was created in the spring of 2007 with the idea that people around the world can connect through song and dance. NYSD explores a wide-range of dance in American culture, using rhythm as a common denominator. Combining old-style hoofing and theater dance from throughout the century, we create a show that does more than convey a simple history. A combination of music and performance styles from American composers, dancers, and choreographers is melded together in the hands, feet, and voices of our company to create an entertaining show that unites everyone in the room with a kind of contagious joy. Our hope is to reach across cultural boundaries and differences, to touch the hearts of audiences and to honor the connection that has existed, and will always exist between us.

Artistic Director, KICKING & SCREAMING
For several weeks, some of Broadway's most exciting established and emerging choreographers, composers, dancers, and singers work together to create original pieces that celebrate and reimagine the honored tradition of song and dance. The results of their work make up a one-night-only thrilling program, Kicking & Screaming. Led by Noah Racey and Lorin Latarro the choreographic lineup includes Sara Brians (resident choreographer for Matilda, Billy Elliot), Danny Gardner (Broadway by the Year), Whitney G-Bowley (GIG), Nick Kepley (assistant choreographer, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella), and Maxx Reed (Cats, West Side Story). Cutting-edge dancemakers are collaborating with some of today's most vibrant musical theater composers including Debra Barsha, Jason Robert Brown, Eisa Davis, Sam Davis, Drew Fornarola, Shaina Taub, and Ben Wexler. In addition, they will be reinterpreting Broadway classics including songs by George M. Cohan, Cole Porter, Comden and Green, Stephen Sondheim, and more. Music directed by Charlie Alterman (Pippin, Godspell, Next to Normal).

Artistic Director IRVING BERLIN - AMERICAN
Irving Berlin’s life and achievements represent the quintessential immigrant story. On the occasion of the centenary of the writing of our nation’s “other anthem,“ Broadway headliners explore how the five-year-old boy who arrived at Ellis Island speaking no English came to create songs that epitomize American music, and how he became the spokesman in song for the country that allowed him to flourish.
